Hi, my name is Jim. I have always had a fascination with capturing those perfect moments or scenes with a camera, but for most of my life, I relied on someone else's camera. It wasn't until 2016 that I finally purchased my own DSLR and took it everywhere with me, and I was determined to make up for lost time by photographing everything. At that time, I was living in Colorado, USA, and was surrounded by breathtaking mountains and landscapes, which became the main subjects of my photographs. I also started to dabble in basic astrophotography.

Unfortunately, life got in the way and my camera ended up gathering dust for several years due to various commitments and an international move to New Zealand.

However, everything changed when I relocated to Queenstown in 2022. I was once again surrounded by beautiful mountains and found myself with more opportunities and time to pick up my camera to pursue my passion. In February of 2023, something magical happened - I captured my first ever Aurora with my DSLR. This experience reignited my love for astrophotography!

Since then, I have upgraded my gear to a mirrorless camera and invested in higher quality lenses. I am so excited for what I am capable of capturing and sharing in the future.

EGL is named after my two English bulldogs, #George and Lenox and was founded in 2019.
