Another Amazing Aurora Australis!
Forecast was for a big one and wow, did it deliver!! Was really hard to determine which of over 1100 images that I liked the most, honestly. What a good problem to have!

The "Grateful" Aurora

I took so many pictures this night on what's been named the "Great Aurora", that it was truly hard to determine which ones I loved the most. I particularly
enjoyed this one as it reminded me of The Grateful Dead's logo with the lightning bolt over Frankton, NZ.

Light Pollution: Man vs Nature

On the way home that night I had to stop by here to get the reflection shot! Normally I stay far away from light pollution bubbles, but it made for the
perfect composition of the battling light sources of Frankton, NZ versus the Aurora Australis. I think the Aurora wins!

Galactic Kiwi meets a Scorpio(n)

I'm obsessed with the Rho Ophiuchi Cloud Complex and Antares (Heart of Scorpio), so for this project I wanted to capture it with the Galactic Kiwi and the Blue Horsehead Nebula in frame. This was definitely one of my more technical projects to date.

Judge & Jury under the Milky Way

I went here because it was one of the many LOTR filming locations, the Pillars of Kings, and I thought it would make a great foreground for the Milky Way. Of course the Pillars of Kings were CGI in the movie, but the Judge and Jury rock formations on the left were perfect!

Arrowtown (NZ) War Memorial

This is the Arrowntown War Memorial to honour the ANZACs that died in war. It was important to me to make sure it was captured in a way that you could read
the names honoured, as well as see the New Zealand and Australian flags flying. It was difficult to accomplish, but I'm very proud of how it came out.

Double Sunset over Lake Hāwea
Summer 2023 - Lake Hāwea, NZ
I really enjoy photographing reflections and I had just purchased a 20mm lens and wanted to give it a good test. The lens boasted its star burst ability, so I had to give it a test with the Sun, and WOW, did it deliver!
