I don't know where to start on this one... but it has a bit of everything in it, eh? My first "picket fence" (green spikes at the top), my first "S.T.E.V.E." (big red & white beam next to the moon) and my first Milky Way arch of 2024! Throw in the quarter moon lighting up the vineyard, the snow capped mountains and the tall pink/purple beams and it's the recipe for an amazing picture!!

Remarkable full moon aurora
16 September 2024 - Queenstown, NZ
I've taken this panorama several times but was never satisfied with any of the results. Finally, I found a night where the Remarkables and Cecil Peak were snow capped, and was able to use the full moon to illuminate all the surrounding area. It was a fortunate bonus to have an Aurora to top it all off!

Almost talked myself into staying home this night, and thought about going home early, but SOOO glad I powered thru and stayed out to capture this amazing spectacle of lights! I can still see the colour in the sky in my head when I close my eyes! WOW! What a night!!
